Carmel is the #1 team in the girls pre-season poll, and rightfully so after 24-straight state championships. The Greyhounds are probably a lock (Locke?) to make it 25 in February. But several other teams are making strong statements in the water in the first two weeks of the season.
#31 Penn's 200-yard medley relay team of Bethany Galat, Anne Spalding, Kimberly Hochstedler and Sarah Coyne threw down a 1:51.26 in their meet with #3 Munster--which was no slouch either, posting a 1:51.70 on opening night. Penn beat Munster that night, 105-81.
Powerful #4 Chesterton's medley relay is right on Penn's heels. The Trojan quartet of Maddie Miller, Olivia Kabacinski, Meaghan McLaughlin and Lauren Foor touched in 1:51.38 in their victory over Highland.
