The people who add names to the banners that hang in the Tiger pool are gonna be busy again soon. FIVE more Yorktown swimmers have had their Academic All-American applications approved by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) for the 2010-11 season--Rachel Reising, Joe Eskew, Michael Heavilon, Joseph Railey and Adam Voss.
Earning Academic All-American status is VERY difficult. It's an honor based on career achievement in both the classroom and pool. Each recipient must earn a minimum 3.75/4.0 GPA in seven out of eight high school semesters; each one must earn a letter in swimming as a senior; and each one must graduate from his/her school.
Swimming is a grueling enough sport by itself--add the typically difficult course loads these kids carry, and you can imagine how hard they've worked for this recognition. Below you'll find a list of Yorktown's All-Americans and Academic All-Americans over the years, in alphabetical order.
Congratulations to the newest honorees, and GO TIGERS!
