YORKTOWN SWIM CLUB HIRES NEW HEAD COACH

Yorktown Swim Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Laura Slight as its new head coach. Slight's selection brings a successful end to an extensive, three month search. Slight agreed to terms tonight, and is expected to begin her duties in early June.

Slight has most recently coached at Shelbyville Middle School, but she'll be a familiar face in the Delaware County area. Laura has also coached for the Halteman Village Swim Club in Muncie, and for the Sugar Creek Swim Team in Crawfordsville. She swam on the intercollegiate level for one season at Ball State University, where she earned her bachelors degree in elementary education. Her prep career included four years swimming for North Montgomery High School in Crawfordsville.

Laura is an intelligent, thoughtful young lady who is excited about taking over the renowned YSC program, which has produced several club state champions over its 25 years of existence. She impressed the search committee with her thoughtfulness and passion for the sport, and she looks forward to hitting the deck running in just a couple of weeks to continue the club's tradition of excellence.

The YSC board and the search committee are already busy planning a "Meet the Coach" event to formally introduce Laura to our swimmers, their parents, and the greater Yorktown community.

Please join me in welcoming Laura Slight to the Yorktown swimming family, and as always, GO TIGERS!
