DAN'S FISH FRY A HUGE SUCCESS!

Trying anything for the first time can create great anxiety. But for those of us who took part in Saturday's fundraiser for the Yorktown Swim Club, that anxiety quickly turned to relief and satisfaction for a job well done. How well?

We fed more than 325 people on Saturday, folks!

That's roughly DOUBLE the number of people who bought tickets in advance for Dan's Fish Fry. In fact, there were times during Saturday's dinner that most of the seats were full in the Yorktown United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. That's quite a testament (no pun intended) to all the hard work put in by parents and swimmers, planning and carrying out this fundraiser.

YSC members and supporters donated hundreds of man-hours to make this event a success. A special thank you to Phil Bonneau, whose two sons are long gone from the club. He went through hell and back to provide the portable generator that powered up the frying operation on Saturday. And a special thanks to the church as well. None of this would have been possible without contributions from each and every one of you!

Our job is not finished, though. We must continue to brainstorm more fundraising and outreach ideas to strengthen our club's financial health, while rebuilding our numbers in the water. Many more ideas were being hatched in the fish breading trailer on Saturday, so we're off to a good, creative start.

Our focus now has to be on maintaining the momentum we built over the weekend. As in any successful race, we're off to a strong start. NOW we have to FINISH!

Great job Saturday, folks. GO TIGERS!
