TIGERS EARN TOP 25 FINISH AT SENIOR STATE

The Yorktown Swim Club scored 61 points over the weekend to finish 24th at the 2011 Long Course Meters Senior State Meet in Indianapolis.

The Tigers received some high level performances at the IU Natatorium. Former IU swimmer Colin Hoffman raced to a 3rd place finish in the 100 breast, going 1:05.44 to qualify for the USA Swimming Junior Nationals! Colin's effort also broke the YSC record previously held by Brenden Butler. Colin also scored in the 200 breast, going 2:50.39 for 24th place.

Larah Beaver also put her name on YSC's list of Junior National qualifiers in the 100 back, racing to a lifetime best in 1:05.45. Larah broke her own club record in the event in the morning preliminaries, going 1:05.51, then bested it again in a championship field that included several current IU and Purdue swimmers. Larah also scored in the 200 back, going 2:27.22 for 20th place.

Hunter Hoffman did his part to pad the YSC score, too. Hunter's 14th in the 50 free (24.50) and 17th in the 100 breast (1:08.94) added scoring punch to the Tigers' bottom line.

The squad of Scott Heavilon, Adam Voss and the Hoffman brothers teamed up to dent the scoreboard in the 400 medley relay, touching the wall in 4:18.34 to grab 19th place.

Jessica Extine and Caroline Grasso also competed in multiple events for the Tigers, but did not score.

Great job by all of the Tigers and their coaches, Laura Slight and Matt Routh.

Next up for YSC? The Age Group State Meet this weekend, also at the venerable IU Natatorium. Good luck to all of our swimmers.

GO TIGERS!
