HALL CLOSE TO PUNCHING TICKET TO OMAHA

The 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials are less than a year away now, and a former Yorktown standout appears to be well on her way to being part of the excitement at Omaha's Qwest Center.

Miami University Hurricane Kelsi Hall recently smoked the field in a long course meters event in Florida, swimming the 50 free in :26.42. That's just .03 of a second off the Trials qualifying cut of :26.39, a standard Kelsi should surpass over the next 11 months as she prepares for her senior season with the 'Canes.

Hall won three consecutive IHSAA state championships in the 50-yard free during her Yorktown High School career. Her :22.92 in 2007 still stands as the second fastest time ever recorded in that event in the 37-year history of the girls State Meet.

In fact, Hall's YHS school record in the 50 free (:22.85) is FASTER than Lacey Boutwell's state record :22.90, but state records can only be established at the IHSAA State Meet.

Hall is one of several former and current Yorktown swimmers who have legitimate shots at earning their way into the Olympic Trials next June. This should be a VERY interesting year ahead.

Good luck to Kelsi and everyone else training hard to make their mark in Nebraska.

GO TIGERS!
